Singer-songwriter Alice Jemima brought her cryptic sounds and haunting words to The Lexington, London, on Monday night for the final show of her headline UK tour.

Jemima released her self-titled debut album last week on Sunday Best Recordings – an album that is, in our opinion, one of 2017’s best releases so far.

The Devon singer has named Corinne Bailey Rae and KT Tunstall as inspirations. There’s a little of The xx’s Romy Madley Croft to Jemima’s dainty delivery, too.

Covers of Alt-J’s Breezeblocks and Blackstreet’s No Diggity were warmly received. As was the cheerful Take Me Back, Jemima’s hand claps and harmonies audibly dispelling the Monday blues of those in attendance.

Tracks she performed also including So, Live for Now, No More, Electric, and Liquorice, before closing with the daring bass tones of Dodged a Bullet.

Jemima received support from pop singer Sonia Stein and folk singer China Bowls.
