We like Affairs (the band, not having them). We were swayed by their unfettered northern charisma when we accidentally saw them live earlier this year. The fact that they could charm us even in a dingy Kilburn bar speaks volumes – in studio they’re even better, as new song Contact attests. With Foals-like production and James Robinson’s moreish (and comparison-conducive) vocals, we’ll go back to what we’ve said of them before: now that Editors have pissed their success up the wall, Joy Division have been defunct for about 100 years, and Morrissey has just about completed his transformation into Cruella de Vil, there’s a huge space for an act like Affairs. You need them in your life.
