In a world of endless cacophony, thank fuck for Linying. Hers is an unhurried, hugely emotional brand of songwriting, one that sees its best on new EP tracks Grime and Speak Up Selah. The latter in particular is an utterly haunting tale rooted in a very personal experience, with production slowly building and rising to match the devastating blows. “You hang your defeat above the beds that you sleep/ said it’s always been this way/ I knew I was born just to creep through the thorns and never see your face,” she sings. And just like that we’re rubble.
