Luke Sital-Singh, it seems, has been disillusioned by the label system. At least that’s what the note attached to his new EP The Breakneck Speed Of Tomorrow implies. After being frustrated with the ‘process’, the erstwhile hot-tip troubadour has gone back to the drawing board and created songs just for himself (and now us). It’s worked a treat, as everything on here is drenched in more pathos than half his debut album – Still sets the tone with that remarkable rasp, while I Was Low is one of the most quietly devastating songs of the year. Sital-Singh has found his zone and his confidence, and the results are really quite phenomenal.
