Brace yourselves, because it is a massive, massive week for new music. Kicking off with our old pals The Internet, who seem to be reinventing themselves for a more psych leaning sound with Roll (Burbank Funk). They’re not the only big returners this week: Honne hook up with Tom Misch for Me & You, Parcels deliver more light-footed funk on Tieduprightnow, and Hayden James is back with a huge moment – and arguably his best yet – on Just Friends.
Elsewhere, it’s CYN‘s world for sure because Believer is one of those pop songs that you only need to hear once to fall instantly in love with. Pop also has a huge new hope in 15 year-old Ruel, whose effortless style on Dazed & Confused makes us think he’s a whisker away from something huge. Oh, and Kailee Morgue continues to build on her promise too with a breezy but ever-so-pointed F**k You, while Spielberg scion Buzzy Lee rounds off a brilliant EP with her song Walk Away.
For some newer and summery vibes, check out the Tep No edit of Northern Ireland singer Jamie Brown‘s song Too Perfect For Screen; for something edgier, San Mei is a pretty powerful force on her wondrous Wonder (seriously, she could be set for big things). And Oddnesse turns out to be the alternative revelation of the week, with her song Trust being an exquisite demonstration of songwriting.
There’s a special mention for the brilliant KAYEX who make their debut on these pages with the unflappable and irresistible song The Get Up, for Weslee who continue to remind us why they’re such a hot tip on Sweat Dreams, and for newcomer Barkley whose 3am does a great job of establishing her talent. And finally Oscar Key Sung serves us a leftfield dose of pep and pop with his great Simple Luv; check out all these tracks and a lot more below.
