Pumarosa – Cecile

“Give me your love, Cecile/ On the first of July…” As far as opening refrains go it’s pretty random, but in the hands of Pumarosa you don’t really care. The London five-piece have the typically hipster backstory to go with their formation, but it’s the sound we’re more interested in – if that name reflects lead singer Isabel’s Chilean roots, then the music certainly comes with all the Latin fire you’d expect. Case in point: Cecile, which starts off as pretty eccentric indie fare before utterly losing itself in a sax-driven coda that demands applause. Phwoar.
