Singles round-up: Snowmine, Kove

It’s been a while since we’ve heard some proper reet good indie and, surprisingly, Brooklyn’s the place to serve it up to us in the form of Snowmine. From their forthcoming Dialects album, Rome is a bounty: no errant samples, just pure, painstaking orchestration (strings ‘n’ all) and a sound to get completely swept up in. We’re big fans of this, and you will be too.

Ironic that something coming out of the Chase & Status stable sounds better than their latest album altogether. Kove’s Night Thought is euphoric drum & bass, which isn’t half bloody bad for lad of 22. It’s massively infectious stuff; we can only imagine what other goodies his debut EP (Measures) will contain when it drops in a couple of weeks.

GEMS-MEDUSA-575x575GEMS – Medusa

We love GEMS. Have done for ages. Now they’ve smacked us with another tantalising cut, Medusa, from the forthcoming EP of the same name. Any superlative we throw at the DC duo doesn’t do them justice. Very soon they’ll be recognised as the benchmark for woozy dream-pop when Beach House aren’t around; if they carry on this way, Medusa will be just another step toward the stratospheric. Listen and fall in love.
