Ooh wee, it’s a bumper day for hot new female artistes. We’re already pretty hyped about Maud in Cahoots, and now young Laurel Arnell-Cullen (or just Laurel to the rest of us) has just released a new demo.

Blue Blood is a wonderful slice of ethereal pop, tinged with Natasha Khan and Florence Welch but wholly original. There are clearly some minor kinks to be ironed out, but it’s an accomplished, mature piece from someone just starting out. Then again, when you’ve been writing since the age of 12 and have played alongside the likes of Katy B, it’s hard not to sit up and take notice.
